A survey of gaming preferences & attitudes in online game players

What’s it all about?

Gaming online is getting more and more popular, but there is still a lot we don't know about the growing community of people who game online. In this study, we want to find out about players' gaming preferences, and how they relate to personality, psychological experiences and the different ways that people process information. We also wish to learn more about why players value gaming. The findings from the research may help us to understand why different people enjoy online gaming in different ways, so your input will be hugely valuable.

What do I have to do?

To take part, you just fill in the following short questionnaire online. You should be aged 16 years or over to participate in this survey. A progress meter will be viewable in the top right corner for you to track your progress through the survey. It should take about 15mins. We have included one or two questions to check you're paying attention. Your answers will be fully confidential and anonymised. There is no possibility that you will be identified as an individual in any of our findings or publications.

What are the benefits?

There are no direct benefits to you. However, as a thank you, we are offering a prize draw to win an
Amazon Kindle Fire HD 10.1" WiFi 16GB device. To enter this prize draw, you will need to enter your email address at the end of the survey. However, this address will be separated from your survey responses to preserve your anonymity. The prize draw will be made on the 31st of July 2017. We will contact winners shortly after that date.

Who is running the study?

This survey is run by the School of Psychology (Bangor University). The study has been approved by the university’s Psychology Research Ethics Committee (2016-15789).
