There are a number of roles within UNISON and we're currently looking for more workplace contacts, stewards and health and safety representatives. A brief description of each role is below:
Workplace Contact
A point of contact in a department that acts as "ears on the ground" and keeps the union updated with any upcoming and ongoing issues and distrubutes information from the union.
Steward
Represents the interests of members in their work group or workplace in any grievance, dispute or negotiations at the level of the work group or workplace. Attends and updates the Branch Committee on workplace issues and recruits new members to join the union.
Health and Safety Representative
Carries out functions of a safety representative as laid down by the Safety Representatives and Safety Committee Regulations including workplace assessments. Attends and updates the Branch Committee on health and safety issues in the workplace.
