Introduction










Thank you for taking the time to participate in the online survey for the Impact Assessment of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.

The purpose of this survey is to receive your views and opinions on the issues identified with the Machinery Directive, and the potential changes currently under consideration.

The initiative aims at revising the Machinery Directive so as to ensure a high level of trust in digital innovative technologies and create a level playing field for economic operators and preserve the competitiveness of the machinery sector in global digital markets. In particular it explores issues related to new risks from emerging technologies in machines (e.g. AI, IoT, cybersecurity), ensuring a coherent interpretation of the scope of the Directive including a potential alignment to the New Legislative Framework (NLF) and avoiding delays and costs associated with transposition, reducing administrative requirements related to documentation, and assessing the clarity of concepts and definitions.
 
All the information you provide, as well as your personal details, are treated confidentially and respecting the European Commission standards for data protection. All information and views you provide will be synthesised together with data collected through other means, thereby ensuring full confidentiality.
