The Common Assessment Standard, developed by Build UK, has transformed the construction pre-qualification (PQ) process, improving efficiency, reducing cost and raising quality standards.
The Common Assessment Standard comprises an industry-agreed question set and corresponding assessment standards for the pre-qualification of suppliers.

Criteria for Amendments
In order to maintain the key principles of the Common Assessment Standard, any suggested amendments will need to satisfy the following requirements:
- Relevant to PQ Stage 1: Business Assurance (rather than project-specific stage 2 requirements)
- Applicable to the majority of companies
- Capable of assessment – not for the sole purpose of ‘information gathering’
- Does not substantially duplicate another question
- Inclusion supported by the majority of the industry.
